Minister of Justice Closes Training Programme for Women Legal Interns Under the JJCPint

Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Justice

Today, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Macallin Mohamud, officially closed the five-day onboarding training for 30 women legal professionals, marking the beginning of their internship journey under the Joint Justice and Corrections Programme (JJCP).

The internship, which runs until May 2027, brings together talented young Somali women from across the country to strengthen their legal knowledge, gain practical experience, and contribute to building a more accessible, inclusive, and people-centred justice system.

Addressing the participants, the Minister encouraged the interns to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and excellence throughout their placements. He emphasized that Somali women possess the talent and determination to lead and succeed when given the opportunity, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding women’s meaningful participation in the justice sector and Somalia’s state-building efforts.

The closing ceremony was attended by Directors General from the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Ministries of Justice of the Federal Member States, representatives of the judiciary and corrections institutions, the United Nations, and the European Union, reflecting the strong partnership supporting the implementation of the 2025–2029 Justice Sector Strategy.
