Permanent Secretary Opens Joint Justice and Corrections Programme Technical Committee Meeting
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Faysal Aadan Hassan, today opened the Joint Justice and Corrections Programme Technical Committee Meeting.
The meeting brought together Directors General from the Ministries of Justice of the Federal Member States, representatives from the judiciary and the Custodial Corps, as well as senior officials from United Nations agencies and development partners supporting the Joint Justice and Corrections Programme.
Discussions focused on the programme’s progress, ongoing and planned activities, and preparations for its phase two . Key areas under consideration include women’s legal empowerment, legal aid services, climate justice, corrections reform, and other critical priorities aimed at strengthening Somalia’s justice and corrections sectors.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration among stakeholders working in the justice and corrections sectors at both the federal and Federal Member State levels. He emphasized that enhanced coordination and cooperation are essential to improving justice services, strengthening institutional coordination, and accelerating the implementation of the programme’s strategic priorities.
