Permanent Secretary Opens National Consultation on Customary Justice Policy

Mogadishu, Somalia – July 3, 2025

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Faisal Adan Hassan, officially opened the Consultative Meeting on the Development of a National Policy for Customary Justice.

This important gathering brings together key justice sector institutions to align their perspectives on the role of traditional justice systems in Somalia and to ensure that the forthcoming national policy is responsive to the country’s realities and needs.

The meeting forms part of the broader efforts to establish an inclusive, effective, and contextually relevant justice system that reflects both formal and traditional practices, contributing to lasting peace and the rule of law.
