The Good Governance Unit champions the principles of justice, transparency, accountability, and rule of law within the Ministry’s operations and beyond. This unit serves as a catalyst for institutional reforms that support democratic governance, inclusive justice services, and citizen participation. It also coordinates inter-ministerial governance initiatives and national justice sector reforms in line with Somalia’s long-term state-building goals.

Through policy advocacy, monitoring frameworks, and stakeholder engagement, the Good Governance Unit supports the development of laws, policies, and practices that align with international standards. It works closely with departments and external actors to assess governance gaps, promote integrity, and improve access to justice for all citizens, particularly marginalized groups.
