The State Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, H.E. Amb. Ilyaas Sheikh Omar, today officially launched a consultative meeting focused on enhancing the role of civil society in the protection, rehabilitation, and reintegration of prisoners.

The meeting, which brought together senior officials from the Ministry of Justice, the Custodial Corps, and representatives from civil society organizations, forms part of the broader efforts to strengthen community engagement in justice sector reforms and prisoner welfare services.

In his remarks, Minister Ilyaas emphasized that cooperation between the government and civil society is key to ensuring humane and effective prisoner care and reintegration. He urged that rehabilitation programs should be guided by principles of human dignity and aligned with both national standards and international norms.
