North Eastern State Constitution Adopted with Overwhelming Support – 417 Delegates Approve

The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia commends all parties involved in the drafting and approval of the Constitution of the North Eastern State of Somalia, particularly the Independent Committee, the Technical Team, and the conference delegates.

The Constitution was officially adopted on 30th July 2025, with a strong majority of 417 delegates voting in favor.

H.E. Hassan Macalin Mahmoud, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, encouraged the public and the new administration to use the Constitution as a foundation for building a legitimate government and advancing sustainable development
