The Mandate of Ministry of Justice (MOJ) is to formulate legal drafts and administration of Justice Policies to foster constitutional governance and effective legal and judicial system in Somalia.

It achieves this by:

The Mandate of MOJ is to formulate legal drafts and administration of Justice Policies to foster constitutional governance and effective legal and judicial system in Somalia.

It achieves this by:

  • Drafting, implementing, reviewing and amendment of laws/policies and to be aligned with the Constitution and international standards;
  • Improving the cooperation among the judiciary institutions in the country and internationally;
  • Implementing of justice and the rule of law;
  • Proposing laws and the members of different commissions including the Judiciary Services Commission, Anti-corruption commission, and establishment of Judiciary training institute and Constitutional Courts;
  • Drafting policies and laws of rehabilitation of the prisoners;
  • Preparing centers for the orphans;
  • Registering and listing of lawyers and notaries;
  • Suggesting of the abandonment and remission of sentence;
  • Supervision and developing of Custodial Corps and the prisons of the country;
  • Preparing the procedures of collaboration between federal Courts and state courts;
  • Searching and recommending the kind of federalism for the country regarding the culture, norms and special circumstances about the society;
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of the mandate and duties of the Ministry;
  • Renovating, standardizing, and modernizing offices, administration and staff of the ministry;
  • Safeguarding the ministerial assets and relocating the missing ones;
  • Following up the agreements concerning the Ministry’
  • Proposing policies regarding the Ministry; and
  • Drafting and presenting regular seasonal reports concerning the Ministry.
