Ministry of Justice hosted Traditional Dispute Resolution (TDR) validation workshop

So20160815_101029mali Federal Government Ministry of Justice hosted Traditional Dispute Resolution (TDR) validation workshop in Mogadishu from 15th and 16th August, 2016 in City Palace Hotel. The workshop was attended by traditional, religious and government representative from member states, Benadir, Jowhar, Hiiraan, Bar Association, UNDP, Attorney General’s Office and other federal government officials.

Dr. Ismail Jumale, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Justice opened the workshop. He stated, “the workshop is highly important for strengthening justice institution and giving access to justice to every Somali. We will take the agreed policy to the Council of Ministers, so they can approve it.”

The policy is necessary to formalize informal rules and ensure formal and informal justice are interconnected. The Ministry of Justice declares passing the policy will expand access to justice.
